It’s National Allotments Week; time to celebrate all you organic growers!

The national allotments week 2019 runs from 12th and to the 18th of august. It is a week meant to celebrate the importance of allotments and open spaces. Allotments offer great benefits such as uniting and bringing people together. This is through their shared love for healthy fresh fruits and vegetables, social interaction as well as physical exercise.

History

National allotments week began as a way of raising awareness of allotments and the role they play in helping people lead a healthy lifestyle. This is through growing their food, unititing communities and developing long-lasting friendships. The campaign started in 2002 and 13 years later, it is still strong.  Many people are developing an interest in growing their vegetables and fruits.

This week is specifically to celebrate all the achievements of all those who’ve embraced the organic lifestyle. A lot of people do this by growing their organic food. Growing on an allotment gives you the freedom to share with your neighbor. The best thing about allotments is that both organic and non-organic neighbors can cultivate next to each other.

You can celebrate this week by learning from other allotment owners. It will, therefore, give you the opportunity to get  a lot of expert advice on how to cultivate your food and the benefits of growing your fruits and vegetables. It will be easy for you to conveniently supply your kitchen with fresh produce from your allotment.

Wherever you are on your allotment, we at the Meat Thief wish you a happy and fruitful growing!
