International Beer Day

The International Beer Day is a day celebrated worldwide on the first Friday of every August. It has been celebrated all over the world since 2007. The idea behind this holiday is to:

Bring friends together and enjoy some beer
Celebrate those who brew and serve beer
Celebrate different beers from all nations

History of International Beer Day

The idea was originally conceived by Jesse Avshalomov in 2007. However, it was later on founded by three individuals in Santa Cruz, California. The three, Aaron Araki, Evan Hamilton, Richard Hernande, managed to convince their local bar to celebrate this day end even ended up creating a website for it.

In addition, the website took off so fast. Soon they started receiving emails from people who had the same immense love for beer and held their celebrations in their countries. Currently, the International Beer day is celebrated every year on 6 continents.

So, how do you celebrate this holiday?

How you celebrate the holiday entirely depends on you. As a beer enthusiast, you can celebrate this day by:

Getting a few friends and sampling beers from different countries
Thanking and tipping your bartender for their service
Gifting someone with their favorite beer

You can also celebrate IBD by attending an IBD event near you. However, if there are no events near you, you could start one and have people come and celebrate with you.

Final Thought

One staple of any city is a good bar, a friendly pub or a busy club. You can, therefore, find these just about anywhere. Whether you’re in the rural or city, you can never miss a bar serving beer. As we all look forward to celebrating this holiday next year, let’s keep appreciating those who brew beer. Cheers!

The Meat Thief catered for an event at our Outdoor Centre in October 2023 for around 170 people. The food was fantastically presented and absolutely delicious and was greatly appreciated by all our guests. We also found that the flexibility leading up to the event was excellent, the organisation on the day superb, and the team's customer service with all our guests couldn't be faulted. We would highly recommend them, and will definitely be using them again in the future.

5 stars really aren’t enough! We hired The Meat Thief for our wedding on 28th May 2022. To begin with, we were invited to go to a tasting which was hosted at Natasha and Jordan’s house. Aside from the food (DELICIOUS!) it was so lovely to be invited into their home and made everything all the more personal. We grew to think of Natasha and her family as friends before anything else. Throughout the process of revisions to our order, planning, and the day itself - Natasha was perfectly professional and an absolute delight to deal with. The food on the day was absolutely unbelievable. There was so much, lots of variety with vegans and vegetarians fully catered for and it was all laid out with beautiful presentation. We had so many compliments on the food, in my opinion it’s one of the most important factors of the day and to have it go so perfectly took so much pressure off us and really helped us to give our guests an unforgettable experience. I cannot recommend The Meat Thief enough. Book them now!

Just had the most amazing BBQ food in November for my birthday and on my what a taste explosion it was. The brisket was so moist and tender, the smokey Mac'n'cheese topped with pigs in blankets, i could eat that everyday, the BBQ beans, potatoes and coleslaw. You will not be disappointed.

We recently had a party in our garden for 70 guests including about 12 kids and had The Meat Thief cater for us. They were AMAZING!! They set up on our drive with serving tables in the back garden which they decorated nicely. They provided an absolute feast for us! Natasha had suggested a menu and it included everything you could ever want.. sausages, burgers, loads of tasty vegetables and vegetarian options. There was a huge selection of salads, breads and sauces. They were very accommodating with food intolerances and gave us plenty of gluten free options. We cannot say enough how tasty the food was, it was just delicious. So many of our guests commented to us about it. On top of all of this Natasha and her team were brilliant, they were professional and friendly and we couldn't have wanted anything more! Thank you again!

We booked The Meat Thief for a corporate evening event and I could not have been more impressed. There was a huge selection of excellent quality BBQ meats, delicious salads and selection of breads and sauces. I was particularly impress with the vegetarian and vegan options - usually these are quite limited and disappointing - however, our vegetarians and vegans had nothing but praise and could stop eating! Natasha and her staff were friendly, very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. We would love to book them again for a BBQ!

Catered for our wedding on the 5th August 2017 and did an amazing job. Really attentive in the build up, very reasonably priced but still provided very tasty high quality food, and made the BBQ area all look very pretty which blended in with our overall look (summer fete/festival vibe). Natasha and Jordan provided the catering for my husbands surprise party. They were really helpful in suggesting menu options and organising things before the day. On the day they set up early and we didn't have to do anything. The food itself was amazing, lots of guests commented that it was one of the best BBQ caterers they had seen. Everything was cleared away and made easy, best of all it was excellent value. I would recommend them to anyone.

I was looking for a catering company to provide food for a surprise 30th birthday party as I had just given birth and didn't want to worry about the food whilst trying to look after my son and entertain guests. I looked at so many different types of caterers and I made the decision to use the Meat Thief... I wasn't disappointed! They made the whole day easy going, people were loving the food and most of the party had asked for their details to use them in the future for events of their own. First encountered this catering experience in Southsea Food Festival and I am so pleased to have done so! A delectable treat for this tastebuds, the burgers were divine with an unusual and appealing array of self serve condiments.
